Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Get HELP with your energy costs from Tazwood Community Services, Inc. We provide LIHEAP for Livingston, McLean, Tazewell, and Woodford Counties. Through LIHEAP we are able to assist income-elligible households to pay for utilities, like heat, gas, electricity, and furnace repair assistance.

LIHEAP is Open for the '24 - '25 Program Year

Applications are being taken on a first come first serve basis through August 15, 2025, or until funds are exhausted.

Am I Eligible?

LIHEAP is designed to help customers during the winter when utility bills are much higher than normal because of the expense to heat their home. As the administrator of the energy assistance program, we are assisting all income eligible households with their gas or propane and electric bill. The 30-day gross income guidelines are as follows:

What Do I Need?

Schedule your appointment online by clicking here, or give us a call to book directly. For the appointment, you will need to bring:

 

  • Driver's License or State ID

  • Social Security Cards or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) for ALL persons living in your home (Missing a card? Learn how to apply for a new social security card here.)​

    • Individuals without an assigned SSN or ITIN can still apply and Tazwood Community Services, Inc. will advise accordingly.​

  • Most recent gas/propane and electric bill

  • Proof of any and all income for the past 30 days (SSA, SSI, wages, unemployment, pension, alimony, TANF/AABD, etc.)

Other documentation may be requested at the time of the application and 15 days will be allotted to return the information to complete the application.

Please Note

If a customer has a crisis situation, a shut off notice or are disconnected from services, they may be eligible to receive Reconnection Assistance (RA). An RA payment looks at the amount due to the vendor to prevent disconnection or restoration of services. If you receive a disconnection notice, please contact us immediately to see if you are eligible for services.
