Emergency Furnace

The State of Illinois Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) includes a Furnace Assistance component that we call Emergency Furnace.

Emergency Furnace allows work to be completed on the primary heat source of a home when if it becomes inoperational in an effort to restore safe heat.

Emergency Furnace for the 2025 - 2026 Program Year

Applications will be taken from October 1, 2025 - May 29, 2026, or until funding is exhausted. Funding for Emergency Furnace is provided in part or in whole by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.

Emergency furnace applications are scheduled with haste in mind. Please contact your local Tazwood office to schedule an appointment.

It is preferred that these applications are completed in person whenever possible. There are several aspects regarding the home and paperwork to complete that requires original signatures. Appointments over the phone are allowable, but delay how quick assistance may be provided.
