about us
Tazwood Community Services opened our doors in June of 1993 to administer the Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) programs, the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and the Illinois Home Weatherization Assistance Program (IHWAP) to assist families in Tazewell and Woodford counties.
We began providing services to McLean and Livingston county in October 2020, when we were made the permanent service provider of IHWAP. Then, in July 2021, we were made an emergency provider for LIHEAP services with it becoming permanent in July 2023.

In November 2024, we were named the emergency provider for IHWAP for Peoria County and named the permanent provider in February 2025. In August 2025, Tazwood Community Services, Inc. was named an emergency provider of LIHEAP for Peoria County. Due to this, we are working on establishing an office location in the city of Peoria to allow services to be easily accessible to Peoria County residents. For the Program Specialist position, we are hiring for all three office locations. We are looking for at least two bilingual staff. Preferred second language would be Spanish or French, but will consider any second language. Additional compensation may be considered with proper fluency vetting. The number of staff we are hiring up to per location is Pekin - 3, Peoria - 2, and Bloomington - 2. ​
